While reading the novel, Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, I noticed the topic of happiness reoccuring throughout the novel. Many of the characters in the novel believe that they are as happy as they can possibly be. Knowing the situation of these characters in the novel, I found it difficult to believe that the characters could be truly happy. I began to wonder what truly makes a person and or a society happy and what would be a false interpretation of happiness. In order to focus on answering these big questions, I did research with the intent of gaining a general understanding of the differences between real happiness and false happiness. In this website, I will be sharing my research and also comparing aspects of real happiness vs. false happiness to the novel Brave New World.
